As needed, the substitute teacher/assistant will replace the full-time teacher or assistant during both anticipated and unanticipated absences.  The substitute teacher manages student learning in accordance with the goals and directives of the school and the division.  The substitute teacher will fulfill the day to day responsibilities and expectations of the regular classroom teacher.  Positions may be filled at all instructional levels - elementary, middle and high school - as needs arise.

 

Note:  To be eligible to serve as a substitute teacher/assistant, candidates must attend a Substitute Teacher In-Service and fulfill background check and other required paperwork.  Substitute assistant salary is $90 daily; substitute teacher salary is $100 to $110 daily depending on whether an applicant holds an active VDOE teaching license.

 

PCPS has completed substitute teacher training for the 2023-24 school year.  Applications received after 4/22/2024 will be invited to a summer training session. Applicants are encouraged to ensure that they have a negative tuberculosis screening (at their expense) no older than August 2023 to bring to the next training.
