The successful candidate provides academic assistance to ensure successful academic progress.  In this particular position, the successful candidate must be able to work with students whose primary language is not English (ELL). The candidate will work under the direct supervision of PCPS English Language Learner Teachers, assisting students to achieve academically in the classroom; the candidate will implement lesson plans created by regular classroom teachers and/or the English Language Learner Teacher using teaching strategies to increase English proficiency for students who speak a language other than English at home.  The candidate will work at multiple school locations. 

 

The successful candidate does not have to speak Spanish, though this would be helpful, but he/she must have earned at least a high school diploma.

 

Instructional assistants work closely with School Administration & Teachers to measure individual student academic progress and meet the specific needs of students for success.  Teaching assistants must have experience in the use of computers, IPADS, and other technology devices typically used for instruction.  The successful candidate must be willing to attend professional development in instructional methods and behavior management techniques proven to assist in student success.
